March 10, 2025, UAE: Summer is almost here, and people are surely making plans for their yearly vacations. But summer is also the busiest time for travel. That means more people will be applying for visas. However, if you plan ahead and get ready, you can make the visa process easier and focus on the fun of traveling. Here are some useful tips to make your visa application smart, stress – free, and on – time.
Apply Early
It’s a good idea to apply for a visa as soon as you book your flights and accommodation. This year, with higher demand expected, we strongly suggest applicants apply for their visa as early as they can. Most countries let you apply for a visa up to 90 days (3 months) before your travel date. You can apply for a Schengen visa up to 6 months before you leave.
Check Visa Processing Times
It’s peak season, and a common worry is how long it will take to process a visa, especially when your travel dates are getting close. VFS Global makes sure your official documents are sent to the relevant Consulate/Embassy within 24 hours of submission. But it’s important to know that each country has a different time for processing visas. During peak season, the Embassy/Consulate may take longer than usual to process visas. These processing times are clearly shown on the country – specific websites (which you can access through ) and the website of the Embassy/Consulate.
Follow the Checklist
VFS Global has a list of the documents needed for visa applications for each country on . Look at this list and make sure you have all the required documents to submit with your filled – out application form. Also, check the validity of your passport. Many countries require your passport to be valid for six months after your return date.
Book an Appointment
You can book an appointment to submit your visa application online on , and the available slots are shown in real – time. Once you pick your preferred date and time, it’s best to arrive at least 15 minutes early to avoid missing your turn.
Track Your Application
After you submit your application, you can check its progress online. The status will be updated when your passport is ready to be picked up or delivered. Note that once your application reaches the Embassy, VFS Global has no control over its progress and can’t track the status at that stage.
Beware of Scams
Visa applicants should be careful of fraudsters. Some may charge fees in VFS Global’s name or on their own for things like scheduling appointments or providing other services. VFS Global doesn’t charge any fee for booking appointments on , which is the official visa application website. However, some governments ask for the service fee to be paid in advance when you book an appointment. This is just to make sure only real travelers use the appointment – booking system and to keep it safe from being misused by fraudsters.
By following these tips, you can make sure your visa application process is stress – free and you can enjoy your international trips easily and without worry.
Applicants who want a better experience can also choose from various optional services* offered by VFS Global for more comfort and convenience. These include the Premium Lounge for full – service personalized help, Doorstep visa services for an at – home option, Prime Time for submitting applications outside regular business hours, and more. The list of optional services and their costs are on the website.
Please note, choosing any of these services is completely up to you. It doesn’t affect the processing time or the decision on your visa application. That’s still up to the Embassy/Consulate. To find out which services are available in your country, visit
