Starting March 17, 2025, Libyans can apply for Chinese visas online. China is making this change to simplify the process, which will encourage more travel and trade and strengthen the relationship between the two countries.
The Chinese Embassy has confirmed this new policy. The goal is to make it easier and faster for Libyans to apply for Chinese visas.
The Libyan – Chinese Chamber for Economic Cooperation thinks this is a big step for trade and investment between the two countries. Easier visa procedures will help Libyan businesspeople and traders engage more with China’s market.
Even with this change, Libyans still need a visa to travel to China because there’s no visa – exemption agreement. The new online system is meant to make things more efficient for Libyan travelers.
Libya has also been working on making it easier for foreigners to enter the country. Last year, Libyan authorities said they were developing an e – visa system to speed up visa issuance.
In November 2024, the Libyan Embassy in Jordan made it simpler for Jordanians to get visas. Now, Jordanians can get entry visas through special electronic platforms when they arrive at Libyan border checkpoints and airports. This is part of Libya’s plan to improve economic and cultural ties with Jordan.
In November 2024, Libya’s Government of National Unity (GNU) talked with Turkish officials. They wanted to solve the problems Libyans face with visas and residency in Türkiye. Minister of State for Prime Minister and Cabinet Affairs Adel Jumaa and Turkish Deputy Interior Minister Münir Karaloğlu led the discussions. They focused on making a deal to make things easier for Libyan students, tourists, and business professionals in Türkiye. Both sides want to finalize an agreement to make it easier for Libyans to get residence permits and visas in Türkiye.
China has been expanding its visa – free policy. In November 2024, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that people from Romania, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Estonia, North Macedonia, Croatia, and Japan can enter China without a visa until December 2025. This is part of China’s plan to improve diplomatic, trade, and tourism relations with important partners.
These policy changes in Libya and China show that both countries want to improve cross – border travel, trade, and diplomatic cooperation.
