The entry of new immigrants needs serious preparation. After confirming their qualifications, they also need to understand the basic requirements and process of entry.
Today, here is the immigration process and precautions.
1. Fill out the Customs declaration form on the plane. The whole family can fill out one copy.
Before the plane lands, the crew will report the ground weather and temperature, and prepare appropriate clothing.
2. After the plane stops, pack your carry-on luggage and follow the crowd into the airport lobby in order.
(1) Upon disembarking from the plane in Vancouver, you will be greeted by CANN (New Immigrant Community Accommodation and Airport Reception), who will be able to provide multilingual services to facilitate entry to the new Canada immigration screening channel;
(2) After showing your passport and immigration visa, you will be told to line up at the new immigration control station on the right for inspection;
(3) In the new immigration inspection office, the Canadian immigration officer verifies the identity, the whole process is 5-10 minutes, long 30 to 60 minutes.
If you do not understand the immigration officer’s questions, you can ask for Chinese (Cantonese or Mandarin) translator help;
“Have you ever been to Canada before?”, “have you ever had a criminal record?” and “have there been any changes in your marriage or children?”
When asked “How much money do you have with you”, you should answer truthfully according to the amount in item 8 of the application form (usually not checked on the spot);
When asked “whether there is a follow-up consignment of goods”, should be truthful answer;
(4) After verifying their identity, the immigration officer will ask each person to sign their own immigration papers.
Signature in pinyin, first name first surname last, accompanying children by the principal applicant on behalf of the signature.
After that, the immigration officer will stamp the passport with an immigration stamp and hand over the resettlement information kit, such as the application for a social security card, in person for safekeeping.
4. Claim your baggage and remove your checked baggage from the baggage carousel of the relevant airline and place it on a cart.
5. Customs inspection.
Carry all checked baggage and hand-held belongings, and present your passport, immigration visa and customs declaration form to the customs inspectors for inspection.
Prepare two lists, one for carry-on items, the other for items to be shipped later, luggage and.
Articles are not generally opened for inspection; only X-rays and dogs are usually examined for drug protection.
6. If you need to transfer, leave the quarantine area, enter the airport lobby and check in your luggage for Toronto (or elsewhere).
7. When you arrive at your destination, be careful when leaving the airport. If your friends or relatives who pick you up at the airport do not arrive, do not panic, wait patiently, and do not ask strangers to help you watch your luggage if you want to call a public phone.
Always carry a bag with valuables such as documents and money.
It’s also best to exchange small amounts of Canadian currency at the airport.
Note: Because Chinese immigrants may like to take large amounts of cash abroad, some criminal groups specifically target this crime. There have been several incidents of Chinese immigrants having their valuables stolen at Vancouver Airport.
So the funds are best carried to Canada by bank wire transfer or purchase draft.
