Morocco has decided to let Albanians travel to the country without a visa. This decision was made to strengthen the relationship between the two nations and also to increase tourism.
The change was announced after a meeting in Rabat. Morocco’s Foreign Minister met with Albania’s Foreign Minister, Igli Hasani. Moroccan authorities say they are now taking the final steps to make this new rule happen. The aim is to get more people from both countries interacting with each other and to improve their relationship.
Right now, Albanians can travel freely to Morocco. But Moroccans still need a visa to visit Albania. This new rule only applies to Albanian citizens going to Morocco.
During the meeting, Morocco praised Albania for keeping stability in the Western Balkans. Morocco also welcomed Albania’s role in having good relations with its neighbours. The two countries also talked about how they could work together in the future.
Morocco has made other visa – free agreements with different nations. Some of these agreements are different from the one with Albania. In those cases, people from both countries can travel freely. For example, people from Morocco and Türkiye can travel without visas. The same goes for Morocco and Azerbaijan. Starting from March 2025, people from Kazakhstan and Morocco will be able to travel without visas as well.
Currently, a Moroccan passport allows its holders to travel visa – free to 48 countries. An Albanian passport allows access to 94 countries. This new visa – free rule for Albanians could bring more tourists to Morocco. It will also help Morocco have stronger connections around the world.
