Starting on 1 April 2025, Namibia is rolling out a Visa – on – Arrival initiative. This move is aimed at making it easier for international travellers to enter the country. The initiative was developed by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety, and Security.
Under the new system, eligible visitors have two options. They can either apply online before they arrive or apply when they reach certain entry points in Namibia. This initiative is meant to help tourists from countries where Namibia doesn’t have diplomatic offices or where there’s no visa – exemption reciprocity. By doing this, Namibia hopes to grow its tourism industry and improve its international connections.
Travellers can use Namibia’s e – services portal to apply online before their trip. This will cut down the time they have to wait at immigration counters. The visa fees are set. For non – African countries, it’s NAD 1,600 (about USD 90). For African Union citizens, it’s NAD 1,200 (around USD 70). The new system will be available at important entry points like Hosea Kutako International Airport and Walvis Bay Harbour.
The Namibia Tourism Board thinks this new initiative will bring in more tourists. It also hopes it will help the economy grow and make Namibia an even more popular place for adventure, culture, and wildlife tourism.
