Aston University’s Indian alumni network has appointed Dr. Ravi Kant, former vice-chairman of Tata Motors, as its new president. Dr. Gaurav Brahmbhatt has been named the vice president.
Dr. Kant expressed his pride in taking on the role, saying, “Aston University is a forward-thinking institution that embraces diversity and encourages excellence. It played a key role in shaping my early career. I am honored to be the first president of the Aston University alumni network in India and look forward to working with Dr. Gaurav Brahmbhatt and the team to make a positive impact in the region.”
Professor Osama Khan, Aston University’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), praised the new leadership team, stating, “We are grateful to Ravi Kant and Gaurav Brahmbhatt for leading the chapter. It’s inspiring to see the developments in Mumbai, and more importantly, the growth mindset of our Indian alumni. The Aston Alumni Community India chapter is well-structured to engage our alumni with Aston University’s 2030 strategy and beyond.”
About Dr. Ravi Kant
Dr. Ravi Kant completed his graduation from Aston University in 1970, earning a master’s degree in industrial metallurgy management techniques. He was awarded an honorary doctorate in 2008. With over 50 years of senior-level experience, Dr. Kant became the Managing Director of Tata Motors in 2005 and served as the non-executive vice-chairman from 2009 to 2014. He is one of 2,600 Aston graduates in India.
