ORLANDO, FLA. (February 26, 2025) — Beacon College has partnered with Jonathan’s Landing and Techtonic SkillCircuits to offer a new technician certification program aimed at neurodiverse students. Starting Wednesday, 14 Beacon College students will participate in the Foundation: A Gateway to Technician Certification program, held from 12 to 2:30 p.m. at the Palace on the college’s campus.
Through this hands-on program, students will gain essential cellphone and tablet repair skills, working at four interactive repair stations. Upon completion, students will earn a microcredential, which serves as the first step toward Wireless Industry Services Excellence (WISE) Certification, a key industry standard for mobile device repair technicians.
“Experiential learning is a core part of every academic program at Beacon College,” said Melissa Bradley, director of the Center for Career Preparation. “This partnership with Jonathan’s Landing allows our students to discover hidden talents and strengths, boosting their confidence and preparing them for high-demand job opportunities.”
The WISE Certification ensures mobile device repair technicians and retailers follow industry best practices and safety standards.
Jonathan’s Landing, a nonprofit organization based in Orlando, is dedicated to building a residential community for adults with autism. Its long-term goals include providing housing for 500 adults with autism and creating 5,000 jobs and meaningful work opportunities.
This collaboration is part of Beacon College’s ongoing commitment to supporting neurodiverse students in their career development.
