Albany – Governor Kathy Hochul is set to present her fiscal year 2026 budget this week, outlining her approach to funding key aspects of her “Affordability Agenda.” This includes a middle-class tax cut, a tripling of the child tax credit, and universal free school meals.
In addition to these proposals, the Governor is expected to address topics not covered in her State of the State address, such as changes to the Foundation Aid formula, the closure of correctional facilities, and funding for immigration services, particularly as a new administration takes office.
Governor Hochul has also hinted at a potential policy change regarding cell phones in schools, so further details may be revealed soon.
