The British Council has announced the GREAT Scholarships 2025, offering Indian students a chance to pursue postgraduate studies at top UK universities. The scholarships are available in a range of fields, including STEM, Law, and Humanities, and are aimed at enhancing the global employability of students.
In partnership with the UK government’s GREAT Britain campaign, the British Council is offering 26 scholarships for Indian students. The scholarships provide financial support to students pursuing one-year postgraduate courses at prestigious institutions across the UK.

Details of the GREAT Scholarships 2025
The 26 GREAT Scholarships 2025 will each provide at least £10,000 towards tuition fees. These scholarships are available for one-year postgraduate programs and are funded jointly by the British Council, the GREAT Britain Campaign, and UK higher education institutions.
The scholarships are divided into three categories. Of the total, 21 scholarships are available for students in various academic fields, two are dedicated to those pursuing postgraduate studies in justice and law, and three are for students in STEM disciplines, aimed at developing future leaders in science and technology.
IELTS Update
In related news, the British Council has extended its agreement to offer IELTS as an official Secure English Language Test (SELT). This means IELTS remains an approved option for students applying for UK visas and immigration. Pamela Baxter, IELTS Director at Cambridge University Press & Assessment, highlighted the global availability of the test, with over 115 countries offering access to IELTS.
