Indianapolis, Indiana — Purdue University has unveiled a series of new undergraduate and graduate programs set to launch in Indianapolis in the fall of 2025. The programs span various high-demand fields, including science, entrepreneurship, and engineering.
Jeffrey Karpicke, a Purdue professor and associate vice provost for the Indianapolis campus, highlighted the importance of these new offerings. “Our goal is to build on Indianapolis’ strong entrepreneurial ecosystem. These programs will provide students with valuable industry partnerships, internships, and hands-on learning experiences to help grow Central Indiana’s STEM workforce,” Karpicke said.
New Programs at Purdue’s Indianapolis Campus
The university will offer six new courses for the upcoming semester, expanding educational opportunities across multiple disciplines. The new programs include:
- Bachelor of Science in Integrated Business and Engineering
- Bachelor of Science in Actuarial Science
- Master of Science in Interdisciplinary Engineering – Sports Engineering Concentration
- Certificate in Entrepreneurship and Innovation
- Master of Science in Software Engineering
- Master of Science in Chemical Engineering – Pharmaceutical Engineering Concentration
Lucy Flesch, dean of Purdue’s College of Science, expressed excitement about the expansion, particularly in the field of actuarial science. “This program’s growth in Indianapolis will provide students with access to world-class education and valuable connections to industry leaders in Indiana’s economic hub,” she said. “This move will offer new opportunities for internships, employment, and professional growth in a highly rewarding career field.”
The university also introduced the Integrated Business and Engineering program in Indianapolis. Jim Bullard, dean of Purdue’s Daniels School, emphasized the program’s unique appeal. “This degree program combines Purdue’s strong engineering reputation with business and technology skills, making it one of the fastest-growing offerings,” Bullard said.
Sports Engineering Master’s Program
A standout offering is the Sports Engineering Professional Master’s Program, which blends engineering with aspects of sports, including biomechanics, materials science, and management. Eckhard Groll, head of Purdue’s Mechanical Engineering department, noted that Indianapolis, home to professional sports teams and the NCAA headquarters, is an ideal setting for this program. “Indianapolis offers a unique environment to study sports engineering, from biomechanics to the legal and managerial sides of the industry,” Groll said.
These new programs reflect Purdue’s commitment to expanding its educational reach and strengthening its ties with local industries in Indianapolis.
