Lynn University’s College of Business and Management recently offered students a unique opportunity to study abroad at the renowned University of Oxford, thanks to a collaboration with the university’s International Programs and Services.
Study Abroad Initiative: Building on a partnership between Lynn University professors and International Programs, Dean RT Good facilitated the study abroad program at Oxford. Along with Associate Professors Sherry Andre and Darren Allen, Dean Good led both undergraduate and graduate students to the prestigious institution for this enriching academic experience.
Professor Kristen Migliano, a faculty member in the College of Business and Management, emphasized the importance of this opportunity. “Oxford’s culture perfectly complements Lynn’s values of exploration, discovery, and transforming the world into a classroom for our students,” she said.
MBA Students Explore Oxford: Eight MBA students from Lynn University visited Oxford with Dean Good, focusing on cross-cultural perspectives. During their time there, they immersed themselves in Oxford’s academic and social life, attending classes, dining in university facilities, staying in residence halls, and engaging with Oxford students.
Dean Good shared his thoughts on the experience: “Magdalen College, founded in 1458, offers a fascinating contrast to Lynn’s modern approach to education. I wanted our students to experience this historical and academic environment firsthand.”
In addition to exploring Oxford, students visited other significant sites in England, including the cities of Bath and Oxford, Blenheim Palace, Stonehenge, the Mini Cooper Manufacturing Facility, Saïd Business School, the Sheldonian Theatre, and the Ashmolean Museum.
Student Experiences: Several students shared their reflections on the trip.
“Stepping out of my comfort zone and connecting with people from another country was invaluable. I learned things I could only experience by participating in this study abroad,” said Nasiha Ahmed, Class of 2024.
Jose Flores Hurtado, Class of 2022, added, “I don’t think any experience could match Oxford, but every student should have the chance to study abroad at least once during their time at Lynn.”
