Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, is set to launch the ‘Fast Track Immigration—Trusted Traveller Program’ (FTI-TTP) today, January 16, 2025, at major airports across India.
The FTI-TTP is part of the Viksit Bharat@2047 initiative, designed to improve the international travel experience. This program aims to provide world-class immigration services, ensuring safe and seamless travel for passengers.
The program was first introduced by the minister on June 22, 2024, at Terminal 3 of Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) in New Delhi. It is available free of charge for Indian citizens and Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cardholders.
Phase 1 Rollout in 2025
In its first phase, the FTI-TTP will be launched at 21 major airports across the country. Along with Delhi, the program will also be available today at airports in Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Cochin.
Registration Process
To use the FTI-TTP, travellers must register online. The registration process requires providing personal details and uploading relevant documents. Biometric data will be collected either at the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) or at the airport upon arrival.
After registering, travellers can use their boarding pass and passport to access the e-gates. The system will verify their biometric data at both departure and arrival points. Once verified, the e-gate will open automatically, allowing the traveller to pass through immigration.
Required Documents
When registering for the FTI-TTP, applicants must upload the following documents, where applicable:
Passport-size Photograph: The photo must meet Indian passport standards, showing the applicant’s face, including ears, covering 3/4 of the image area. The photo should be recent (no more than six months old) with a plain white background.
Passport Scans: A scanned copy of the passport’s front page (with photo and personal information) and the final page (with family details). The passport must be valid for at least six months.
OCI Cardholders: A scanned copy of the OCI card, including both the first page (biographic details) and the last page (family and address details).
This initiative is designed to enhance the travel experience for eligible passengers, contributing to the broader goal of making India a more efficient and traveller-friendly destination.
