Bangladesh has announced the relaxation of visa restrictions for Pakistani citizens, simplifying the process for those wishing to travel to the country. The move, reported by Azernews and cited by Tribune, is expected to foster greater business and cultural exchanges between the two nations.
The announcement was made during a visit by Bangladesh’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Mohammad Iqbal Khan, to the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI). Speaking before business leaders, Ambassador Khan emphasized the deep cultural and historical ties between the people of Bangladesh and Pakistan, noting that Lahore, with its rich heritage, is a city that requires no introduction.
“Bangladesh and Pakistan share a strong bond of affection, and it is crucial to strengthen bilateral cooperation for the benefit of both countries,” Ambassador Khan remarked. He also highlighted the significant role the Lahore Chamber of Commerce can play in enhancing trade relations between the two nations.
“The people of Bangladesh hold Pakistan in high regard,” Khan added. “It is essential for both countries to strengthen their economic and trade ties.”
Regarding the recent changes to visa policies, the ambassador explained, “Bangladesh has simplified the visa application process for Pakistani citizens. Pakistanis can now apply for their visas online, making it easier for them to travel for business or cultural purposes.”
Mian Abu Zar Shad, president of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce, welcomed the ambassador’s remarks and expressed a strong desire to expand trade with Bangladesh. “We are eager to explore new opportunities for collaboration,” Shad said. “Our delegations will soon visit Bangladesh to further strengthen these ties.”
