For students who are going to Australia, what should they do when they enter the country?
What materials are required and what items are not allowed?
What should we pay attention to when studying in Australia?
The following is compiled by the editor here for you to enter Australia “what is the process”, just for reference, welcome to read this article.
Step 1: Follow the signage to the immigration inspection department to queue up for inspection;
There are electronic screens at the immigration control to tell you which section to go through.
All passengers must queue up to pass through the arrivals area for their flight. Immigration officers will check that your documents are complete and that you have a valid passport with a visa. They will also ask necessary questions such as nationality, purpose of travel and length of stay (don’t be nervous, just answer truthfully).
After you have passed the immigration check, you can go to the baggage counter to claim your baggage.
After collecting your luggage, the next step is to go through the customs to see if you have anything to declare.
Customs officers will check passengers’ luggage according to the customs declaration form filled in by passengers.
The Australian Customs has very strict quarantine regulations.
Customs officers with search dogs will also spot check passengers’ luggage in the baggage claim area to identify whether incoming passengers are carrying prohibited items.
Entry Restriction Australian laws prohibit and restrict the importation of drugs, steroids, weapons, firearms, protected wildlife and related products.
In addition, as Australia itself is an independent continental island and is naturally geographically isolated from many animal and plant diseases, all animals and their manufactured products, food, plants, meat, fruits and by-products are subject to quarantine procedures and must be declared to customs upon entry.
The penalty for breaking the law is quite serious. If you have any doubts about the items in your luggage, you can show them to the customs officer and declare them.
In addition, carry-on items, no special restrictions.
Articles not allowed to be transported as luggage Prohibited articles, restricted articles and dangerous articles stipulated by the State include but are not limited to compressed gases:
Flammable, corrosive liquids, flammable solids, drugs, oxidants, cohesibles, magnetic articles, radioactive articles, harmful or irritating substances, and other articles that have an odor or are prone to contaminating the aircraft, shall not be carried as checked baggage or carry-on articles.
According to Chinese Customs regulations, outbound passengers are allowed to carry with them no more than $5,000 in Australian dollars.
There is no limit on the amount of Australian dollars and foreign currencies that passengers can bring into or out of Australia, but those exceeding 10,000 Australian dollars (or the equivalent foreign currency) must be declared at the time of entry.
“Currency” means legal notes and coins, but does not include traveler’s checks or other monetary instruments.
Forms for declaring currency entry and exit amounts can be obtained from customs officers at seaports or airports.
According to the law, failure to declare is illegal.
After passing the customs, you have completed all the formalities and officially arrived in Australia.
Wait at the agreed place with the person picking up the plane, usually at the Information Desk. Pay attention to the signs held by those people.
If no one can be found, please wait in the reception hall first.
If you do not see the person picking you up after a period of time, do not leave the airport by yourself. You should find a public phone and call the emergency contact number provided by us.
Please bring the following documents with you to register: 1. Offer letter 2. COE (Comfirmation of Enrollment letter) 3.
Passport 4. Passport photo (for making student ID card) 5. Admission Delay letter (for evening arrival students) 2.
According to the regulations of the Australian Immigration Department, the attendance rate of international students cannot be less than 80%.
If the attendance rate is not up to the standard, the school will issue a warning and report the situation to the Immigration Department. In serious cases, the visa will be cancelled and the entry into Australia will not be allowed for three years.
According to the Immigration Regulations, international students cannot change schools for less than 6 months of study in the main program, except in exceptional circumstances, with the approval of the institution of study.
You do not need to re-apply for a student visa if you transfer after 6 months of study at the same level.
If you transfer to a lower AQF level course, you will need to apply for a new visa.
Any secondary school students, preparatory students, undergraduate students or master students who need to change the EDUCATION PROVIDER or change their study plan can contact Kai Tak Australia branch;
Kai Tak Australia will take full responsibility for students’ change of major after departure.
Materials required for transfer within 6 months of study in the main courses of the former university: 1. The release letter of the former university should be confirmed by the former university on the PRISMS system, indicating that the former university has approved the student’s transfer.
2. Statement of reasons for transfer.
3. Admission letter from the new school (please do not pay for COE before getting the release letter from the original school).
If you change your major but do not change the course level, you do not need to inform the immigration office;
If you graduate early due to a change of major, you need to leave the country as soon as possible after graduation.
If you extend your graduation, you need to pay attention to the validity of the visa, and you need to renew the student visa before it expires.
Visa Extension and Replacement From 1 July 2016, the Australian Department of Immigration will introduce a new condition requiring all student visa (500 visa category) holders to remain enrolled in the same or higher level of the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) for which their visa was approved.
But from a PhD Doctoral Degree (AQF10) turn a Master’s Degree in Master Degree (AQF9) exception.
Transferring to a lower AQF level course, or from an AQF level course to a non-AQF degree course, will be a breach of student visa conditions and may result in visa cancellation.
If a student wishes to change to a lower level course, the student must apply for and obtain a new student visa before transferring to another school.
Kai Tak Australia will provide a free renewal service for Kai Tak students, provided that the COE used in the client visa is obtained through the trustee (Chinese or Australian company).
For students affected by the pandemic, students can apply to the university for Form 1545, which is used to apply for a waiver of the student renewal fee.
¡ô Apply for 500 student visas;
Hold the visa on or after February 1, 2020 (regardless of the date of issuance, as long as you hold the visa on or after February 1, 2020);
¡ô Unable to complete the study within the validity period of the visa due to COVID-19;
¡ô For students who also meet the requirements, if the visa is accompanied by a companion visa (spouse and child), the student visa applicant can also renew the visa with a companion visa without the visa fee.
At present, all student visas in Australia are subject to the regulations of Working hours (Clause 8105). There is no need to apply for a work permit. International students can work no more than 40 hours every two weeks (some types of work are not restricted).
Working hours are not limited during holidays.
