2. English Language Proficiency Test All international applicants whose first language is not English are required to take the English language Proficiency Test.
Scores must be received by the application deadline for the semester in which students apply.
An English language proficiency test is not required if the applicant has graduated from an American university at the time of enrollment or if the applicant is a CMU student or alumnus.
These students must take one of the following: ingo English Test: Minimum total score required is 105, minimum scores are Literacy-105, Comprehension-115, Production-70, Conversation-95.
b. Toefl: The minimum total score required is 84, and the minimum score required is IBT-R 22, IBT-L 22, IBT-S 18, and IBT-W 22.
TOEFL MyBest is not currently accepted for the Electrical Engineering program at Carnegie Mellon University.
c. Ielts: A minimum IELTS score of 7 is required, with a minimum score of 6.5 in reading, 6.5 in listening, 6 in speaking and 6 in writing.
