ABUJA (WKBT) — The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board has dismissed claims circulating online about recruitment into the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS). The board clarified that it is currently conducting recruitment only for the Federal Fire Service (FFS).
In a statement released on Monday, Ja’afaru Ahmed, the board’s Secretary, reiterated that no recruitment exercise is underway for the NIS as stated by some online sources. “For the avoidance of doubt, we wish to inform the general public that the board is currently carrying out a recruitment process in the FFS only,” Ahmed emphasized.
Ahmed further detailed that the recruitment process for the Federal Fire Service is set to advance to its next stage in August and will be concluded before the end of September. This schedule aligns with the Federal Government’s announcement on Sunday, which indicated that the recruitment stages for both the Nigeria Immigration Service and the Federal Fire Service would commence in August.
The initial plan to complete the recruitment by June 15, 2024, was postponed due to a comprehensive manpower audit across various services under the board. This audit included the Nigerian Correctional Service, Nigeria Immigration Service, Federal Fire Service, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.
“The board wishes to apologize for its inability to complete the process by 15th June 2024, as earlier intended. This is due to a nationwide manpower audit exercise carried out in the Nigerian Correctional Service, Nigeria Immigration Service, Federal Fire Service, and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, which was just recently concluded,” Ahmed explained.
Ahmed assured that all shortlisted candidates for the ongoing recruitment will be notified of the next stage through their provided contact details. He urged the public to disregard any false information regarding NIS recruitment.
“All shortlisted candidates will be duly notified of the next stage through their phone numbers and email addresses,” he added, ensuring transparency and timely communication in the recruitment process.
