Jim Hudson, Secretary of the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration (DFA), has announced the appointment of Sharon Strong as the new director of the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery. Strong brings a wealth of experience from her previous role as senior assistant Attorney General in the office of Arkansas Attorney General Tim Griffin, where she supervised investigations and prosecutions related to criminal fraud and abuse. She also contributed to legislative efforts aimed at safeguarding vulnerable Arkansans.
In her new role, Strong will oversee the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery, a division of DFA, which plays a crucial role in supporting Arkansas students through scholarships. The Lottery, established in 2008 following voter approval, has disbursed over $1.4 billion in scholarships to more than 770,000 students.
Expressing her gratitude for the appointment, Strong emphasized her commitment to working collaboratively with stakeholders, including the Arkansas General Assembly, to maximize the Lottery’s impact responsibly. She highlighted the Lottery’s senior leadership team’s extensive experience and institutional knowledge as key assets in achieving their mission of benefiting future generations of Arkansans.
Under Strong’s leadership, the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery aims to continue its mission of providing vital resources for students across the state, ensuring they have the support needed to succeed in their educational pursuits.
