The University of Arkansas Global Campus has announced the recipients of the W.E. Manning Memorial Scholarships for the 2024-25 academic year, totaling $59,000. These scholarships are aimed at supporting students enrolled in online undergraduate and graduate degree programs.
Cheryl Murphy, Vice Provost for Distance Education and leader of the Global Campus, highlighted the significance of these scholarships for students who balance their studies with full-time work and family responsibilities within their communities.
“The W.E. Manning Scholarship provides crucial support to our online students,” said Murphy. “Many of them are professionals looking to advance their careers or individuals transitioning into new fields, all while making a positive impact in their workplaces and communities.”
Among the 31 awardees, 28 will receive $2,000 each, distributed over the fall and spring semesters at $1,000 per semester. The remaining three recipients, graduating in December, will receive a prorated award totaling $1,000.
Students benefiting from these scholarships are enrolled in online degree programs offered by various academic colleges at the University of Arkansas, including the Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences; the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences; the Sam M. Walton College of Business; the College of Education and Health Professions; and the College of Engineering.
Murphy noted that the Global Campus continues to expand its online program offerings annually to meet growing demand and enhance access to higher education across different locations.
Last year, the Global Campus awarded a total of $51,000 in scholarships to 27 students, underscoring its commitment to supporting academic achievement and career advancement through online education initiatives.
