In a milestone event, the New York Islanders and the Islanders Children’s Foundation (ICF) celebrated their inaugural ICF Scholarship dinner, recognizing five exceptional high school seniors for their outstanding community service with a $5,000 scholarship each. This initiative underscores the commitment of the Islanders organization and the ICF to support young leaders who are making a difference in their communities.
Ann Rina, Executive Director of Islanders Community Relations & Islanders Children’s Foundation, highlighted the significance of the scholarship program in empowering future community leaders. Noah Zinman, one of the scholarship recipients bound for the University of Georgia, expressed his gratitude for the support, emphasizing the importance of giving back to the community. His involvement with the Long Island Blues Special Hockey Team, where he organized an equipment drive, exemplifies his commitment to making a positive impact.
Tim Connolly, who will be attending SUNY Cortland, was recognized for his dedication to community service, particularly in organizing food and toy drives. His mother, Melissa Connolly, expressed pride in his selflessness and generosity, highlighting his growth as a person.
The scholarship recipients, including Fanta Kaba, Celeste Harrington, and Sarah Brannigan, each demonstrated a remarkable commitment to social justice, firefighting, and technology education, respectively.
