Visa has introduced a new resource toolkit tailored to assist Filipino merchants, particularly small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs), in enhancing their digital payment capabilities. This initiative aims to leverage Visa’s digital payment solutions to optimize the customer shopping experience and drive sales, with a particular focus on the Philippine tourism sector.
Aligned with Visa’s commitment to empowering Filipino SMEs and bolstering tourism, a vital sector for economic growth, the online toolkit is designed to facilitate seamless contactless payments and streamline transaction processes.
The SME online toolkit provides merchants with comprehensive, step-by-step guidance in English, including cashier scripts for initiating and completing digital payment transactions. It elucidates the contactless feature present in most Visa cards, indicated by a specific symbol, and offers instructions on how customers can independently tap the terminal with their card to execute payments.
In addition to the toolkit, Visa has undertaken various initiatives to promote tourism in the Philippines. This includes its participation in the Philippine Department of Tourism’s tourism summit and collaboration with the Pacific Association of Tourism (PATA). Through workshops and training sessions, Visa has equipped tourism SMEs with essential financial, risk management, and digital skills, emphasizing the importance of digital payments preferred by modern travelers.
Jeff Navarro, Visa Philippines’ country manager, emphasized the company’s dedication to enabling businesses with cutting-edge payment technologies and fostering the adoption of digital payments to support tourism growth in the Philippines. Navarro expressed optimism that Visa’s new SME online toolkit will facilitate broader acceptance of digital payments among SMEs, catering to the evolving needs of the travel ecosystem and aligning with the preferences of contemporary travelers.
