The Lake Area Industry Alliance (LAIA) and Southwest Louisiana Women in Industry (SWLA Women in Industry) have partnered to launch a new scholarship program aimed at supporting young women pursuing careers in STEM fields, according to KPLC News.
The initiative was conceived during a STEM forum held earlier this year. “We brought in 65 female students, juniors and seniors in high school, from Calcasieu and Cameron parishes,” said Stephanie Huck of SWLA Women in Industry. “We had over 100 volunteers and 50 subject matter experts from local industries share their experiences.”
This collaborative effort reflects the organizations’ commitment to fostering educational opportunities and inspiring the next generation of women leaders in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
