Gulf Coast State College has received prestigious recognition as one of the top 10 military-friendly campuses in the nation for small public schools. The college was ranked 4th on the list by MilitaryFriendly.com, a testament to its exceptional support for military members.
In January, Gulf Coast State College made history by becoming the first school in Florida to earn the designation of a Collegiate Purple Star Campus, demonstrating its unwavering commitment to serving military students. This recognition by Military Friendly underscores the college’s dedication to providing comprehensive support to military members, veterans, and their families.
The college offers a wide range of resources tailored to meet the needs of active-duty personnel and veterans, including a dedicated resource center and specialized administrators who assist with military credentials. These resources streamline processes such as obtaining transcripts from military bases worldwide, ensuring a smooth transition for military-affiliated students.
President Glen McDonald, himself a veteran of the Air Force, expressed profound pride in the achievement, emphasizing the significant impact it has on the military community. “I’m very proud of it. I think a lot of times we do things and we don’t realize the effect it has on the military community,” said McDonald. “And I think when someone else, like an outside source, designates you number four it’s a big deal.”
This recognition reaffirms Gulf Coast State College’s ongoing commitment to providing meaningful benefits and unwavering support to the military community, reflecting its status as a premier institution for military-affiliated students.
