Illinois Central College (ICC) has appointed Michael Unes, former vice president of UnityPoint Health/Carle Health, as its new VP of Institutional Advancement. This newly created position aims to bolster fundraising efforts at the college.
Unes brings a wealth of experience to the role, having served as a state representative in the Illinois House of Representatives and on the East Peoria City Council. With over 25 years of experience in public service, fundraising, and non-profit operations, Unes is well-positioned to lead ICC’s fundraising initiatives.
Half of Unes’s salary will be funded by the college, while the other half will be supported by ICC’s Educational Foundation. Dr. Sheila Quirk-Bailey, ICC President, expressed confidence in Unes’s ability to drive strategic vision, leadership, and community engagement in his new role.
Unes’s experience at Unity Point Health includes leading fundraising and philanthropic efforts, notably overseeing a $30 million capital campaign to establish a children’s hospital focusing on mental and behavioral health outcomes. His commitment to philanthropy and aligning with ICC’s mission underscores his dedication to enhancing fundraising efforts and supporting the college’s growth and development.
