Ador, the agency representing K-pop girl group NewJeans, has recently made a generous donation by contributing the entire earnings from the group’s performances at university festivals to the Korea Student Aid Foundation (KOSAF).
Announcing the donation, Ador, a sublabel of HYBE, expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support and love received during NewJeans’ performances at seven university festivals over the past week. In a statement, the agency stated, “We wanted to reciprocate the love we received by extending support to university students facing financial challenges.”
The donation will be directed towards assisting low-income college students with living and housing expenses, aiming to alleviate their financial burdens and enable them to focus on their education.
NewJeans captivated audiences at seven university festivals, including prestigious institutions like Korea University, Chosun University, Busan University, Sejong University, and Chung-Ang University. Notably, their appearance at Chosun University drew a remarkable response, with students and citizens lining up around the grand stadium from the early morning.
CEO Min Hee-jin of Ador addressed concerns regarding NewJeans’ participation in university festivals during a press conference held on May 31. She clarified that the group’s performances were not solely driven by financial motives but also served as opportunities for skill enhancement and promotion of new songs. To demonstrate sincerity, Ador decided to donate the earnings from these performances.
Min emphasized the importance of connecting with fans across different regions, highlighting that university festivals provided a platform for fan engagement and served as a form of fan service in the absence of concert opportunities.
Expressing gratitude for the donation, KOSAF acknowledged Ador and NewJeans’ commitment to supporting economically disadvantaged university students. They pledged to utilize the funds to ensure that scholarship recipients can pursue their studies in a stable environment. Additionally, they encouraged recipients to uphold the spirit of giving and contribute positively to society.
Ador’s charitable gesture reflects a commitment to social responsibility and underscores the importance of supporting students in need as they pursue higher education.
