Foxcroft Academy proudly announced the recipients of the 2024 Horizon Scholarships during a presentation on May 15. These scholarships, funded by income from 15 named endowed Horizon Scholarship funds within the academy’s endowment, aim to provide financial support for exceptional academic experiences not currently offered at the school. The scholarships are open to all students in grades 8-11 enrolled as full-time students at Foxcroft Academy, as well as faculty members.
Scholarship Awards
This year, a total of $6,370 was awarded to five deserving students out of the approximately $11,000 available annually for these scholarships. Tom Lizotte of the Board of Trustees presented the scholarships to the following students:
Adriana Guthrie – Awarded for a summer dance intensive program at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee. This scholarship was supported by the Linda Gammon Fund.
Tyler Wing – Awarded to attend Boy Scout Camp at Camp Roosevelt in Eddington. This scholarship was supported by the Gordon and Wilma Andrews Fund.
Kameryn Coelho – Awarded to attend YMCA Summer Camp Leaders School at Camp Jordan in Ellsworth. This scholarship was supported by the Jim Brown Fund.
Joanna Austie – Awarded to attend the Maine Summer Youth Music Camp at UMaine. This scholarship was supported by the Peter and Marion Plouff Fund.
Emma Alden – Awarded to go on a trip to Spain with the FA International Club. This scholarship was supported by the Shirley Gammon Fund.
The school officials expressed their excitement and anticipation to hear about the students’ enriching summer experiences made possible by the Horizon Scholarship funding. The scholarship program continues to foster educational growth and unique learning opportunities for both students and faculty at Foxcroft Academy.
