The executive committee of the Assam Tea Tribes Student Association (ATTSA) in Tinsukia district organized a comprehensive felicitation and career counselling programme at Margherita College. The event aimed to recognize the academic achievements of students from the Tea Tribes community and provide them with guidance on career opportunities.
The programme commenced with the hoisting of the ATTSA flag by Jagat Nayak, President of the Assam Tea Tribes Student Association. This was followed by a Smriti Tarpan ceremony conducted by Anuj Tanti, General Secretary of ATTSA’s Tinsukia district executive committee.
Over 250 students from the Tea Tribes community who secured first division marks in their Higher Secondary (HS) and High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examinations were felicitated at the event. The recognition highlighted the academic excellence within the community and aimed to inspire further achievements.
The career counselling session, held at the Margherita College Auditorium, saw an attendance of more than 250 students. The session included extensive discussions on various career prospects, guided by the insights of ATTSA Tinsukia district committee leaders Jagat Nayak and Anuj Tanti.
The event was graced by several distinguished guests, including former Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Assam Government Labour Minister Sanjay Kishan, Margherita College Principal Dr. Atonu Kakoty, Assam Tea Tribe Student Association Central Executive Committee General Secretary Jagdish Baraik, and Margherita Sub-Divisional Police Officer Sambhavi Mishra (IPS).
Keynote speaker Hrishikesh Goswami emphasized the pivotal role of education in community development. He lauded the students of the Tea Tribes association for their impressive academic performance, highlighting it as a positive indicator of the community’s progress.
The event underscored ATTSA’s commitment to fostering educational advancement and providing essential career guidance to students, thereby contributing to the overall development of the Tea Tribes community in Assam.
