JaKayla Duell, a senior at Overhills High School in Spring Lake, has achieved an extraordinary academic milestone by earning over $3 million in scholarships. Among these, she received the prestigious Army ROTC Scholarship, a testament to her exceptional abilities and dedication.
Duell, described as a stellar student and a powerhouse of ambition, was accepted into more than 100 universities, including Ivy League institutions like Yale University. Despite these numerous options, she has chosen to attend North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (NC A&T) this fall.
At NC A&T, Duell plans to major in biology on a pre-med track while minoring in military science. Her ultimate career goal is to become an obstetrician-gynecologist (OBGYN) in the United States Army, a path that combines her academic interests with her commitment to service.
Reflecting on her journey, Duell hopes to inspire other students to pursue their dreams with determination and resilience. “Never give up, be determined to achieve any goals you have in the future, you can do anything,” she said.
