CIEE, a nonprofit organization specializing in study abroad and intercultural exchange, proudly announces Elora Main, a homeschooled 10th-grader, as one of 250 American high school students selected for the prestigious Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange (CBYX) Scholarship for the 2024-2025 Academic Year. The CBYX program, jointly sponsored by the U.S. Department of State and the German Bundestag (Parliament), facilitates bilateral exchanges between the United States and Germany.
As a CBYX scholar, Elora will spend the academic year in Germany, residing with a host family, attending a German high school, and participating in language and cultural training to deepen her understanding of German culture, language, and daily life. The program also offers unique opportunities to visit the German Bundestag, engage with American and German government officials, attend intercultural seminars, and explore the country through excursions to nearby cities and historical landmarks.
CIEE, on behalf of the U.S. Department of State, annually awards 100 CBYX scholarships to high-achieving high school students from 18 states, Washington D.C., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, fostering cultural immersion experiences for youth from diverse communities.
In addition to enriching the lives of students and young professionals, CBYX promotes citizen diplomacy, with over 700 host families annually providing immersive experiences for program participants. Beyond American students studying abroad, the program also facilitates German students’ exchanges to live and study in the United States.
