The Bismarck Public Schools Foundation has unveiled a new scholarship in tribute to Renae Hoffman Walker, former BPS Community Relations Director and esteemed KFYR-TV reporter.
Established by her family, this scholarship marks a testament to Renae’s dedication to the field of communications and journalism. It represents her enduring legacy and her fervent desire to support aspiring professionals in these domains.
Renae’s husband, Dwayne Walker, expressed his profound appreciation for the scholarship’s establishment, emphasizing its significance in preserving Renae’s memory. He reflected on her deep passion for education, her unwavering love for students, and her profound commitment to the community.
“It means a lot to me the fact that her legacy is going to live on, and that’s kind of important to me because she loved students, and she loved the community and she loved education,” said Walker.
The inaugural recipient of the Renae Hoffman Walker Scholarship is Aubrey Wood, a distinguished graduate of Century High School. Wood’s selection underscores the scholarship’s mission to support and empower promising individuals pursuing careers in communications and journalism.
