Selah Natural Medicine has announced the recipients of the 2024 Girls Wrestling Scholarship for Montana in a press release on Tuesday.
The scholarship winners, along with their high school and college choices, are as follows:
Paige Gershmel: Billings Senior, attending Simpson College (Iowa)
Gretchen Donally: Huntley Project, attending Colorado Mesa University
Clara Laird: Havre, attending Dickinson State University (North Dakota)
Kaylin Taylor: Great Falls, attending University of the Cumberlands (Kentucky)
Hailey Sutton: Florence, currently undecided
Lucille Libby: Flathead Kalispell, attending the University of Idaho
Kierra Case: Butte, attending the University of Montana
Each scholarship winner is eligible to receive up to $1,000. This marks the second consecutive year that Dr. Chip Halverson, ND, a physician based in Kalispell and Portland, Oregon, has offered this scholarship. Due to increasing interest, both the number of scholarships and the amount awarded have been expanded.
The press release emphasized that applicants are not required to be state champions or honor roll students. Instead, they must demonstrate character, integrity, determination, and a willingness to help others.
Dr. Halverson expressed his commitment to expanding the scholarship program. “We would like to grow the scholarship in the future by continuing to support current Montana women wrestling at the college level and by adding to the enthusiasm for more women’s college programs in Montana,” he said.
This scholarship initiative aims to foster the growth and development of women’s wrestling in Montana, encouraging young athletes to pursue their academic and athletic goals.
