In a bid to fortify the skilled workforce, three apprentices hailing from the Coffs Coast have been bestowed with a prestigious scholarship, aiding them in navigating their training journey with financial support.
Gurmesh Singh, Nationals Member for Coffs Harbour, heralded the significance of the Bert Evans Apprentice Scholarships, a program extending $15,000 over three years. These scholarships are specifically tailored to offer crucial assistance to individuals demonstrating exceptional promise in vocational education and training, particularly amidst challenging circumstances.
“I congratulate our three local awardees on their scholarships, and I wish them every success for their future,” remarked Mr. Singh, emphasizing the scholarships’ pivotal role in nurturing apprentices and fostering a promising trajectory in their careers.
Launched by the NSW Nationals in Government in 2014, the Bert Evans Apprentice Scholarships program aims to empower apprentices by providing essential support to complete their training, attain qualifications, and carve out a brighter future for themselves.
The Coffs Coast recipients of this esteemed scholarship are:
Mikyla Croft, specializing in beauty therapy.
Nathan Delaney, pursuing aircraft surface refinishing.
Trinity Kachel, focusing on cabinet-making.
The scholarship program bears the name of the late Bert Evans AO, an esteemed figure renowned for his unwavering advocacy of vocational education spanning over three decades. His legacy continues to inspire and uplift aspiring apprentices, underscoring the enduring importance of vocational training in shaping Australia’s skilled workforce.
