Kyra Rose-Espinoza, hailing from Albany Township, has been named the fifth recipient of the River Fund Maine’s 2024 College Scholarship, marking a significant achievement for the Telstar High School senior.
The River Fund Maine’s scholarship program aims to empower talented students like Rose-Espinoza by assisting them in crafting educational pathways leading to fulfilling and prosperous careers. Unlike merely securing a job, this initiative fosters comprehensive career development. The scholarship offers substantial financial support, providing up to $20,000 annually for four years. This financial assistance encompasses college tuition and fees, accommodation, textbooks, and educational materials. Additionally, recipients benefit from invaluable resources such as financial counseling and professional mentoring, as stated in a press release by Heidi Godomsky, Executive Director of the River Fund Maine.
Rose-Espinoza has distinguished herself both academically and athletically. Ranked third in her class at Telstar High School, she has earned recognition as a National Honor Student. Furthermore, her prowess on the field hockey and basketball courts has garnered accolades, including MVC All-Academic Recognition for both sports during her senior year. Beyond her academic and athletic achievements, Rose-Espinoza also serves as the assistant baker at the Gemini Bakery in Bethel, showcasing her diverse talents and work ethic.
With her sights set on a promising future, Rose-Espinoza is poised to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in baking and pastry arts at Johnson and Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island.
