Decatur’s Oliver Howard, a standout wrestler for the Red Raiders, has inked a significant milestone in his athletic career by signing a wrestling scholarship with Columbia University. Howard’s achievement comes on the heels of his impressive victory in the 6A State Wrestling Championship, where he secured the title in the 175 lb division.
Expressing his elation after signing, Howard shared, “I’m super excited mainly because it’s something that I’ve been working on my whole life. As far as the wrestling, it’s a testament to the academics as well. I started wrestling twelve years ago and to see it finally pay off is really nice.”
Howard’s prowess on the wrestling mat has been evident throughout his high school career, culminating in two State titles during his junior and senior years.
This notable accomplishment underscores Howard’s dedication to both his academic and athletic pursuits, solidifying his position as a promising athlete within the Ivy League.
