In a celebration of academic excellence, eight deserving students from Galway have been bestowed with prestigious All-Ireland Scholarships, offering comprehensive financial support throughout their undergraduate studies.
The recipients of this esteemed accolade are Jack Kinane and Myles Loughran from Calasanctius College, Oranmore; Luke Rice from Coláiste Éinde; Liam Murphy from Coláiste Muire Máthair; Ava Leyden from Gort Community School; James Moran from Presentation College, Athenry; Jacqueline Glynn from St Cuan’s College, Castleblakeney; and Emily Walshe from Salerno.
The All-Ireland Scholarships Awards Ceremony, held on March 30th at the University Concert Hall, University of Limerick, served as a platform to honor these exemplary students for their remarkable academic achievements. The ceremony was graced by esteemed personalities including scholarship sponsor JP McManus, Guest of Honour and CEO of Northwell Health, Michael J. Dowling, Minister for Further and Higher Education Niall Collins, Director of Skills, Strategy & Policy at the Department for the Economy, Northern Ireland, Graeme Wilkinson, as well as the proud families, friends, and school representatives of the scholarship recipients.
JP McManus expressed his delight in celebrating the exceptional accomplishments of the 125 students awarded scholarships this year. He emphasized the significance of the occasion, noting that a total of 1,799 students have benefited from the All-Ireland Scholarship initiative since its inception, with 1,348 of them having successfully graduated from university.
Established in 2008 by JP McManus, the All-Ireland Scholarships are now in their 16th year, symbolizing a steadfast commitment to recognizing and supporting academic brilliance. Each year, 125 high-achieving students, representing all 32 counties, are selected for this prestigious award. Recipients must fulfill specific criteria, including attending a non-fee-paying school and receiving financial support from Student Universal Support Ireland (SUSI) or Education Maintenance Allowance in Northern Ireland.
The scholarship offers comprehensive financial assistance throughout the duration of the recipients’ tertiary education, enabling them to pursue their academic endeavors without financial constraints. As the latest cohort of All-Ireland Scholars embarks on their educational journey, their achievements serve as a testament to their dedication, perseverance, and scholarly excellence, inspiring future generations to strive for academic success.
