Licking Heights is delighted to announce that high school junior Richard Hill has been selected as the inaugural recipient of the Illuminate USA Scholarship, presented by the Pataskala-based solar panel manufacturer. Hill was awarded the $1,000 scholarship by Eric Heis, the Head of Public Affairs for Illuminate USA, during the Career Xpress event held at Licking Heights High School on March 19.
During the Career Xpress conference, an event aimed at connecting upperclassmen at Licking Heights to employment and educational opportunities within central Ohio, Heis served as the closing keynote speaker.
“Illuminate USA is committed to supporting local students as they pursue their academic aspirations,” the company expressed in a social media announcement. “This scholarship initiative exemplifies our dedication to investing in our remarkable community. Congratulations to Richard Hill, and our heartfelt thanks to all participants!”
Tom Holdren, Assistant Superintendent at Licking Heights, commended Illuminate USA for their investment in the future of students, stating, “We are deeply grateful for Illuminate USA’s generosity in providing our students with both financial support for their education and accessible pathways to local employment opportunities. Their engagement at our Career Xpress event, where they interacted with students keen on exploring future careers, underscores their commitment to nurturing a skilled and competitive workforce in Central Ohio, starting with our students.”
Hill, currently enrolled in college and career preparatory coursework at Licking Heights, including Advanced Placement (AP) classes, and actively engaged in the hands-on Fabrication Laboratory (FAB Lab) sponsored by Meta. Additionally, he demonstrates his athletic prowess as a two-sport varsity athlete, representing Licking Heights in football during the fall season and baseball in the spring.
