Tokyo, April 20 (Jiji Press) — Sony Group Corp. announced on Friday the launch of a new scholarship program aimed at supporting approximately 10 college students studying science and engineering in Japan. Each recipient will receive grants of up to 1.2 million yen per year.
The initiative, named the Sony Steam Girls Experience scholarship program, is specifically tailored to foster the development of the next generation of female engineers. As part of the program, recipient students will have the opportunity to seek guidance from female engineers at Sony regarding their career paths.
Applications for the scholarship program will be accepted from May 17 to July 12. Notably, students who receive the scholarship are not obligated to pursue employment with Sony upon completion of their studies.
This initiative reflects Sony’s commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion in the fields of science and engineering, while also providing valuable support to aspiring female professionals in these disciplines.
