According to a survey conducted by marketing research and polling company Kubi Kalloo, the United Kingdom remains the top destination for Greek students seeking to study abroad.
The survey, which sampled 1,700 young people aged 16-34 from France, Germany, Poland, Spain, Italy, and Greece, all expressing an interest in pursuing studies abroad within the next three years, revealed the UK’s enduring popularity among Greek students.
In the academic year 2021-22, a total of 7,100 Greek students opted to pursue university studies in the UK, solidifying Greece as the eighth-largest source of EU students in British universities. The survey found that 42% of Greek respondents identified the UK as their preferred destination for studying abroad, with the United States and Germany following closely behind.
Respondents cited several factors influencing their decision to choose the UK, including the perceived high quality of teaching and research, the diverse array of programs tailored to students’ interests, and the perceived value of the educational experience offered.
However, Greek students also expressed concerns regarding admission requirements, the cost of living, and the visa application process as primary issues affecting their decision-making process. These considerations reflect the practical challenges associated with studying abroad, which can impact students’ overall experience and choice of destination.
