On August 15, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) conducted a new Express Entry draw, inviting a total of 4,300 candidates to apply for permanent residency. This draw was open to candidates from all programs within the Express Entry system. The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score required for this draw was 496.
This follows a recent trend of Express Entry draws, which have seen an increase in the number of invitations being issued. The Express Entry system manages applications for the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), Canadian Experience Class (CEC), and Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), representing key pathways for economic immigration to Canada.
In an effort to address specific labor market needs and encourage French language proficiency, IRCC introduced new selection criteria on May 31. These criteria include categories for medical insurance, STEM majors, trades, transportation, agriculture and produce, and French language proficiency.
The Express Entry system assesses candidates based on various factors including work experience, language skills, education, and age. The CRS assigns points to these factors, with candidates receiving the highest scores being more likely to receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residency.
This draw is part of a series of recent Express Entry draws that have aimed to meet Canada’s economic and labor market needs while also encouraging language skills and expertise in specific fields.
